5. Hygiene
No shoes on the mats—wear clean flip-flops or sandals off the mat, and always wear shoes to the bathroom and wash your hands every time.
Use foot washing station every time you come onto the mat. Please thoroughly wash your feet and dry them with the wash tub and towels provided before stepping onto the mat.
Cover any open wounds or injuries before stepping onto the mat.
Come in with a clean body and clean uniforms every time. Please wear deodorant. Showers are available to use before & after class. Please bring your own towel. Prevent injuries by wiping down the floor & help keep the showers & washrooms clean. If needed, soap, shampoo, and conditioner is provided by the gym. (Gym shower soaps will say “CJJ”).
Keep finger and toenails clean and trimmed to prevent injuries. Long hair needs to be pulled back and out of face.
Always shower as soon as possible after training—either at the gym or immediately at home. This helps prevent the spread of mat-related infections such as athlete’s foot, ringworm, and staph, which are highly contagious but avoidable with proper hygiene. If you suspect you have an infection, it is crucial to inform the instructor before class so we can evaluate whether it’s safe for you to participate in training that day.
